Guitar Player — “"A straightforward tube combo hiding serious 21st-century tech." We review the Supro Airwave 1x12 combo
Versatility is greatly expanded by excellent-sounding Two Notes IRs.

What the internet actually said

  • They made a boxy 1×12 that sounds awful with all that tech and no effects loop for $1500.

    YouTube

  • It's cool. Not $1500 cool even with the dsp stuff and tube amp folks don't want to hook their computer up to their amp.

    YouTube

  • Awesome amp but at $1500.00 you think that it would have an effects loop.

Guitar Player reviewed the Supro Airwave 1x12 and led with a headline about a "straightforward tube combo hiding serious 21st-century tech." The tech is real. Two Notes speaker simulation is baked in, and the review says it sounds excellent. At $1,499, that combination is the entire pitch.

The YouTube comments did not dispute the technology. They disputed the price logic. Three separate commenters, independent of each other, arrived at the same sentence: where is the effects loop?

That is not a boutique-forum complaint. An effects loop is a standard feature at this price point. It is on $600 amps. The absence of one means every modeler or time-based pedal in your chain has to run in front of the preamp, which is exactly the wrong place for it. The Two Notes integration is downstream at the end of the signal. Everything else is not.

Guitar Player spent its word count on the IR library and the DSP architecture. The comments spent their time on the omission that shapes how the amp actually fits into a working rig. Those are two different reviews of the same product.

We are not suggesting the amp is bad. Two Notes integration at this price is genuinely interesting. We are saying the press reviewed the feature set. The comments reviewed the context. Both things are true, and only one of them gets a star rating.

That gap is where we live.
